Kia Motors is continuously expanding its portfolio in the Indian market. As
part of this plan, the company is gearing up to launch the Seltos Hybrid and
the Syros EV in the domestic market soon. Reports claim that both SUVs will
make their debut within the next year. Here’s what to expect from the Kia
Seltos Hybrid (and a glimpse of the Syros EV):
Kia Seltos
Hybrid: Launch and Expected Price
The all-new, next-generation
Kia Seltos Hybrid could be introduced in early
2026. Its ex-showroom price is likely to range between ₹12 lakh and ₹21 lakh.
Once launched, it will take on rivals like the Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota, Hyundai, and the upcoming Hyundai Creta Hybrid.
Kia Seltos
Hybrid: Engine and Mileage
Under the hood, the Seltos Hybrid is expected to pair a 1.5-litre four-cylinder
petrol engine with a 44 PS electric motor, all mated to a 6-speed dual-clutch
automatic gearbox. This hybrid setup could produce a combined output of around
141 PS and 265 Nm of torque. In addition to the hybrid powertrain, the existing
1.5-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine options are also likely to
continue. Thanks to the hybrid system, fuel efficiency should improve over the
current Seltos models, with some reports suggesting a claimed mileage of up to
30 km per litre. However, Kia has not yet provided any official confirmation.
Kia Seltos
Hybrid: Design and Features
The new Seltos will feature a boxier design, an updated front grille, new
headlamps, and slimmer vertical LED tail lamps, highlighting Kia's latest design
language. Inside the cabin, it is expected to offer a 12.3-inch infotainment
screen, a 10-inch head-up display, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay,
dual-zone automatic climate control, and premium Nappa leather seats.
Kia Syros EV:
Launch Timeline and Expected Price
The
Kia Syros EV is scheduled to launch in India in the first quarter of 2026.
Its ex-showroom price is expected to range between ₹15 lakh and ₹20 lakh. In
its segment, it will rival the Tata Nexon EV and the Hyundai Creta EV. This will
be Kia’s first sub-4-meter electric SUV in India and will be based on Hyundai’s
K1 platform, which also underpins the Inster EV.
Battery and
Range
The Syros EV is likely to come with two battery pack options: 42 kWh and 49
kWh. The smaller pack is expected to deliver a range of up to 300 km (WLTP),
while the larger one may offer up to 355 km. The SUV will feature a
front-wheel-drive (FWD) layout. Design highlights may include a boxy profile,
vertically stacked LED DRLs, and flush-fitting door handles.
Interior and
Features
Inside, the Syros EV could offer a 30-inch panoramic “Trinity” display, a Harman
Kardon 8-speaker sound system, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, and Level-2 ADAS
features. For safety, it will come equipped with 6 airbags, a 360-degree camera,
and electronic stability control (ESC) as standard.

Opinion
If you’re planning to buy an SUV shortly, the
Kia Seltos Hybrid and Kia Sorento EV are worth waiting for. The Seltos Hybrid, with its impressive
mileage and premium features, is likely to shake up the mid-size SUV segment.
Meanwhile, the Syros EV will be an attractive choice for buyers looking for an
affordable yet feature-rich electric SUV.
