Maruti Suzuki Eyes SUV Market Dominance with New Launches

Maruti Suzuki
is the largest car manufacturer in the Indian market. To maintain this crown,
the company is planning to launch several new products in the coming days.
Especially, Maruti's focus will be on the SUV segment, as the list includes
models like the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara 7-Seater and the Maruti Suzuki Fronx Hybrid. Let's take a look at these upcoming
SUVs.
At the top of
the list is the Fronx Hybrid. This upcoming hybrid SUV is expected to be
launched with a starting price of under ₹10 lakh. Along with updated design and
features, the biggest change will be the introduction of a new in-house
developed 1.2-litre Z-Series petrol engine. It is estimated that this new
engine could deliver a mileage of up to 35 kmpl.
This vehicle
was recently spotted testing on Indian roads. The presence of Hybrid badging
on the rear suggests that the model is nearly production-ready. The Fronx
Hybrid is likely to be launched by the end of this year, although Maruti
has not made any official confirmation yet.
Compared to
Toyota's Atkinson cycle strong hybrid powertrain, Maruti's HEV (Hybrid
Electric Vehicle) technology is expected to be more cost-effective. Just
like the current Grand Vitara, Maruti is expected to offer this SUV
with a capable powertrain, motor setup, and battery pack, allowing the
strong hybrid system to deliver better fuel efficiency. It will also
help reduce emissions from the petrol engine.
Talking about
feature updates, the company is expected to equip the Fronx Hybrid with several
advanced features, such as ADAS safety, a larger infotainment screen,
sunroof, 6 airbags as standard, and a 360-degree camera.
Upon its launch in the Indian market, this 5-seater car could become the
most affordable strong hybrid SUV in the country.
Second on the
list is the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, which is currently the best-selling
strong hybrid SUV in India. To make it accessible to a wider range of
customers, the company will soon introduce a 7-seater version. This
variant will come with an extended wheelbase and a third row of seats
in the cabin.
However, the 7-seater
Grand Vitara will not feature any mechanical changes. It will continue to
be offered with the existing 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine
and hybrid technology, with a claimed maximum mileage of 27.97 kmpl.
In terms of features, it could be equipped with several new additions like ADAS,
a panoramic sunroof, and captain seats.
