Maruti Suzuki’s First Electric SUV e-Vitara to Debut Tomorrow

Maruti Suzuki is set to introduce its first electric SUV in the Indian auto market as the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara. It will be launched tomorrow, i.e., on 2nd December. This electric car, manufactured at the Hansalpur plant in Gujarat, has already been exported to 12 European countries. Now, it will compete in the Indian market with models like the Tata Curvv EV, Mahindra BE 6, and MG ZS EV.

The e-Vitara comes with a futuristic design featuring polyhedral surfacing, a muscular stance, and matrix-connected LED headlamps and taillights. The 18-inch alloy wheels, sculpted 3D appearance, and hidden rear door handles add to its appeal. The India-spec model will be offered in seven colour options—Bluish Black, Grandeur Grey, Splendid Silver, Arctic White, Land Bridge Green, Nexa Blue, and Opulent Red.

The company will offer it in two battery pack options—49 kWh and 61 kWh.

With a single-motor FWD setup, it is expected to deliver a claimed range of 500 km.

The AWD variant may offer a range of around 400 km.

Power output is expected to range between 142–173 hp, with torque figures of around 192.5–293 Nm. The e-Vitara can accelerate from 0–100 km/h in 8.6–7.5 seconds. Using a DC fast charger, it can charge from 0–80% in just 50 minutes.

The premium digital cockpit includes a 10.25-inch driver display, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, ventilated front seats, an electric sunroof, a 360-degree camera, a 10-way electrically adjustable driver seat, 7 airbags, Level 2 ADAS, TPMS, ambient lighting, soft-touch dashboard, and a dual-tone cabin.

Its estimated ex-showroom price is expected to start at ₹17 lakh and may go up to ₹22–25 lakh for the top variants. Bookings will begin along with the launch, and deliveries could start by the end of December 2025. This is the first step in Maruti Suzuki’s plan to introduce four BEVs by 2030, which could help make electric mobility more affordable.
