Skoda Epiq EV Revealed: Promises 441 km Range on a Single Charge

Skoda stated that the base Epiq variant achieves price parity with the ICE-powered Kamiq in many markets.

Skoda Epiq electric SUV

Skoda Auto has unveiled the Epiq, its new entry-level electric SUV crossover positioned as the brand's most affordable electric vehicle (EV) and the gateway to its expanding all-electric portfolio. The Epiq is also the first production Skoda model to fully adopt the company's Modern Solid design language and the first electric model from the Czech carmaker to offer full one-pedal driving.

Built on Volkswagen Group's new-generation MEB+ electric platform, the Epiq becomes Skoda's first front-wheel-drive EV. The company said the platform has been optimised for compact EVs with lower weight, improved efficiency, and better packaging. Alongside the Epiq, Volkswagen Group will also introduce the Volkswagen ID. Polo, Volkswagen ID. Cross and Cupra Raval are on the same architecture this year.

Skoda stated that in many markets, the base Epiq variant achieves price parity with the internal combustion engine (ICE)-powered Kamiq.

The Epiq measures 4,171mm in length, 1,798mm in width, and 1,581mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,601mm. Ground clearance stands at 157mm. On the design front, the electric SUV features clean surfaces, a glossy black Tech-Deck Face, and a new T-shaped lighting signature that will be seen on future Skoda SUV models as well. The Epiq has a drag coefficient ranging from 0.275 to 0.283, depending on the configuration.

Inside, the Epiq gets a 475-litre boot, which Skoda claims is among the largest in its segment. With the rear seats folded, luggage capacity increases to 1,345 litres. The EV will also offer a 25-litre front storage compartment or 'frunk', although the company said this feature will be introduced later in production.

The cabin follows the company's Modern Solid philosophy with durable materials, simplified controls, and a wide range of features. Connectivity functions are centred around a 13-inch infotainment touchscreen running an Android-based operating system with online services, app store access, and support for the MySkoda app for remote vehicle management and charging functions.

The Epiq will be offered with two battery packs and three powertrain options. The smaller 38.5kWh (37kWh net) battery uses lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) chemistry, while the larger 55kWh (51.7kWh net) battery uses nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) chemistry.

The entry-level Epiq 35 produces 85kW, while the Epiq 40 develops 99kW. Both variants deliver 267Nm of torque, offer a WLTP range of around 310km, and have a top speed of 150kmph. The range-topping Epiq 55 develops 155kW and 290Nm, with a top speed of 160kmph and a WLTP range of up to 441km. The flagship variant can accelerate from 0-100kmph in 7.1 seconds.

Charging capabilities vary by version. The Epiq 35 supports 50kW DC charging and can charge from 10-80% in 33 minutes, while the Epiq 40 supports 90kW charging and completes the same cycle in 25 minutes. The Epiq 55 supports up to 105kW DC fast charging and takes around 24 minutes for a 10-80% charge. All variants come with 11kW AC charging as standard.

Skoda has also equipped the Epiq with bidirectional charging technology, including Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), Vehicle-to-Home (V2H), and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) functionality, subject to compatible infrastructure. Another key highlight is the one-pedal driving mode. In B mode, drivers can accelerate and decelerate using only the accelerator pedal, while adjustable regenerative braking intensity allows energy recuperation depending on driving conditions and user preference.

Safety equipment includes seven airbags as standard, including a centre airbag, along with systems such as Front Assist, Side Assist, Lane Assist, and Traffic Sign Recognition. Optional features include Travel Assist 3.0. Shortly after launch, Skoda will also introduce a limited-run First Edition variant based on the Selection trim. It will feature additional standard equipment, unique design elements, and will exclusively use the most powerful drivetrain option. In India, Skoda does not offer EVs at present. Will the company bring the Epiq here, in the Europe-spec form? It seems highly unlikely.
