On the Mumbai Trans Harbor Link (MTHL), the maximum speed limit for four-wheeled vehicles will be 100 kilometers per hour. However, motorcycles, auto rickshaws, and tractors will not be allowed to travel on the sea bridge. This information was provided by the police on Wednesday.

The Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) will have a maximum speed limit of 100 kmph for four-wheeled vehicles, while entry will not be allowed for motorcycles, autorickshaws, and tractors on the sea bridge, as per information provided by the police on Wednesday.

According to an official, the speed limit for cars, taxis, light motor vehicles, minibusses, and two-axle buses will be 100 kilometers per hour. However, the speed limit will be restricted to 40 kilometers per hour while ascending and descending on the bridge.

Mumbai police have implemented speed limits on India's longest sea bridge to prevent "dangers, obstacles, and inconvenience to the public."

The MTHL, with a cost of 18,000 crores, starts from Sewri in Mumbai and ends in Nhava Sheva in the Uran taluka of Raigad district. The inauguration of the MTHL, also known as Atal Setu, named after former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, will be done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 12.

Police officials stated that heavy vehicles with multiple axles, trucks, and buses heading towards Mumbai cannot use the Eastern Freeway. They will have to use the Mumbai Port-Sewri Exit (Exit 1C) and take the MBPT Road near Gadi Adda to proceed further.

Entry will not be allowed for motorcycles, mopeds, three-wheeled vehicles, autorickshaws, tractors, vehicles pulled by animals, and vehicles moving at a slow pace.

The MTHL is a 6-lane sea link, with a 16.50 km stretch over the sea and a 5.5 km stretch on land. It will significantly reduce travel time between Mumbai and Navi Mumbai to just 20 minutes, compared to 2 hours on alternative routes.
