German luxury car
manufacturer Audi has unveiled the Q9, its largest and most expensive SUV yet.

positioned above the Q7 as Audi's second three-row SUV.
International deliveries will begin in November
2026, with the SUV built at Audi's Bratislava plant in Slovakia. The Audi Q9
will arrive in India in 2027 and it is expected to be a locally assembled model
that will rival the BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS.
Audi Q9 Revealed: Dimensions & Powertrain
Audi claims that the
Q9 is the largest passenger vehicle it has ever built. The Q9 is a three-row
7-seater SUV that measures 5,310mm long, 2,210mm wide and 1,810mm tall. The
Audi Q9 sports a 3,140mm long wheelbase For international markets, the Audi Q9
uses a 3.0-litre V6 diesel producing 299hp and 630Nm, paired with an 8-speed
Tiptronic gearbox and quattro all-wheel drive as standard. A milder state of
tune with 245hp and 500Nm will be offered in select European markets.
The US gets a 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol
making 429hp and 599Nm. A performance-focused SQ9 variant will be offered in
the US with a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 producing 591hp and 800Nm, which allows
for a 0-100km/h time of 4 seconds. Both diesel states of tune get a mild-hybrid
system adding 24hp for stronger low-speed response, along with an electrically
powered compressor that builds 3.6 bar of boost in 1.2 seconds. Adaptive air
suspension is standard and adjustable by up to 90mm, working alongside
all-wheel steering for a tighter turning circle at low speeds. Braking duties
are handled by 400mm front and 350mm rear composite discs.
Audi Q9 Revealed: Design & Features
Up front, the all-new
Q9 gets a split-headlight layout with Digital Matrix LED headlights featuring
micro-LED modules that can project warning symbols onto the road. The grille
dominates the front of the Q9 with illuminated vertical slats on the standard
advanced line, while advanced turn signals project directional indicators onto
the road at night. The Q9's curved digital OLED rear lights are a world-first
application in a production car and they use 512 segments across six panels
connected by a lightbar with an illuminated Audi logo.
The alloy wheels on the Audi Q9 range from 20 to
23 inches, with the 22 and 23-inch options getting acoustic foam inserts to cut
tyre noise. Automatic doors with obstacle detection and a soft-close function
are offered for the first time on any Audi. A sportier SQ9 variant is also sold
internationally, with a reworked grille, unique alloy wheels and quad exhaust
tips. The Audi Q9's cabin seats seven as standard, with sport seats up front
and power adjustment across all three rows. A six-seat configuration with
captain's chairs in the second row is offered at extra cost, along with
ventilated and massaging front seats.
The dashboard of the Q9 features a three-screen
layout: a 12.3-inch digital driver's display, a 14.5-inch central touchscreen
and a 12.3-inch passenger display with a privacy mode. The infotainment runs on
Android Automotive OS and supports built-in apps without a paired smartphone.
The Q9 gets Audi's largest-ever panoramic sunroof as standard, while a
22-speaker Bang & Olufsen 4D sound system with headrest speakers and seat
actuators is offered as well. The Q9 also features dual wireless phone chargers
and USB Type-C ports across all three rows. Optional extras include heated door
and centre armrests, along with a sunroof that gets switchable transparency and
ambient-synced illumination.
The safety kit on the new Q9 includes Level 2
driver assistance, a 360-degree camera, automated park assist and Adaptive
Driving Assistant Plus, which permits hands-free driving on approved highways
at speeds up to 130kph. Audi says this hands-free system is a first for any
model in its range.
