Suzuki introduced the 5-door version of its lifestyle SUV, the Jimny, during the Auto Expo 2023. While this SUV didn’t receive the expected customer base in the Indian market, it has been selling well in international markets. Now, it has been launched in the Japanese market under the name Suzuki Jimny Nomade. Let’s find out what makes it special!
Price
In the Indian market, the Suzuki Jimny 5-door starts at an ex-showroom price of ₹12.74 lakh. In Japan, prices start at 2,651,000 yen and go up to 2,750,000 yen for the top variant. In Indian currency, this translates to approximately ₹14.86 lakh to ₹15.41 lakh. The significant price difference is due to the CBU (Completely Built Unit) import route.
What’s Special About the Suzuki Jimny Nomade?
The new Suzuki Jimny Nomade will be sold in the Japanese market alongside the already available 3-door version. The design, engine, and specifications of the Jimny Nomade are similar to the Maruti Suzuki Jimny available in the Indian market. All variants come with a 1.5-liter K15B petrol engine, paired with either a 5-speed manual or automatic transmission, and are equipped with a 4WD system.

Safety Features
Suzuki has prioritized safety in the Jimny Nomade. All variants come with:
- 6 airbags (standard)
- 360-degree camera
- ISOFIX child seat mounting points on the rear seats
However, it is important to note that the Jimny Nomade has not yet been tested for safety ratings by any institution.
What the Company Said
Speaking about the launch, Hisashi Takeuchi, MD & CEO of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, stated that introducing the ‘Made in India’ Jimny 5-door in Japan reflects the company's world-class manufacturing capabilities. After the Fronx in August 2024, the Jimny 5-door is the second model to be exported to Japan in the 2024-25 financial year.
