Mahindra XUV 7XO First Look Out, Launch on Jan 5

Mahindra is known for its SUVs in the Indian auto market. Recently, the company has planned to give a new identity to its flagship SUV, the XUV700, with a facelift version named XUV 7XO. On December 8, 2025, Mahindra officially released the first teaser of the XUV 7XO.
This new model will carry forward the legacy of the XUV700 with a modern design, advanced technology, and premium features. The company has confirmed that its global debut will take place on January 5, 2026. Let’s take a look at what the Mahindra XUV 7XO may offer.

Expected Design

The teaser images clearly show the new front fascia, featuring updated twin-pod LED headlamps, a slimmer grille, and U-shaped DRLs. The design appears to be inspired by the Scorpio N, giving the SUV a more aggressive and premium look. The rear will also receive minor updates, such as refreshed tail-lamps and a redesigned bumper. New alloy wheels will add a more dynamic stance.

Interior and Features

The XUV 7XO is expected to bring a major surprise in the interior department. The teaser hints at a triple-screen setup, which includes a digital instrument cluster for the driver, a central infotainment touchscreen, and an entertainment screen for the co-driver. This setup seems inspired by the XEV 9e electric SUV, making the cabin feel futuristic. Additionally, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system with Dolby Atmos support will offer a luxurious sound experience.
The XUV 7XO will also include features such as a new panel for automatic climate control, captain seats with ventilation, front parking sensors, auto-parking function, NFC key-card unlocking, dual wireless charging, and an integrated selfie camera. For safety, Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) will be standard, which includes adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and autonomous emergency braking.

Engine and Performance

Talking about the powertrain, the XUV 7XO will retain the existing engine options of the XUV700. It will come with a 2.0-litre TGDi turbo-petrol engine, producing 197 hp and 380 Nm of torque, paired with either a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission.
The diesel option will include the 2.2-litre mHawk CRDe engine, available in two tuning states. In terms of power output, it delivers:
  • 153 hp / 360 Nm (manual)
  • 182 hp / 420–450 Nm (manual/automatic)
The diesel automatic variant will offer both FWD and AWD options, making it perfect for off-road enthusiasts. The company has not yet hinted at a hybrid or electric version, but in the future, an electric variant like the XEV 7e can be expected.

Expected Price and Competitors

The starting price of its base variant is expected to be around ₹13.99 lakh (ex-showroom), while the top variants could go up to ₹25 lakh. This SUV will compete with the Tata Harrier, Safari, Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector Plus, and Mahindra Scorpio N.

What the Teaser Shows

The teaser released ahead of the debut gives fans a glimpse of the XUV 7XO, proving that Mahindra is ready to deliver a perfect blend of innovation and performance. More details will be revealed at the unveiling on January 5, but it has already become one of the biggest SUV launches of 2026.
