Maruti Grand Vitara Recalled Over Fuel Gauge Issue

Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara has been recalled to address an issue related to its fuel gauge system.

Maruti Suzuki India Limited has issued a recall for its Grand Vitara SUVs sold in the Indian market. The recall pertains to a potential defect affecting the model's fuel level indicator and warning system. Based on the automaker's announcement via a regulatory filing, 39,506 units of the SUV have been affected, manufactured between December 9, 2024, and April 29, 2025.
As per the Indian automaker, the fuel level gauge and warning light within the speedometer unit may not accurately reflect the fuel level, potentially deceiving drivers regarding the fuel left in the tank
The brand will solve the problem by reaching out to the owners of the impacted vehicles directly. Affected customers will be requested to visit authorized Maruti Suzuki service centers for an inspection and replacement of the defective part. The company assured that the repair would be performed at no cost to the owners.
The recall has been initiated as a precautionary measure, and MSIL has encouraged customers to respond swiftly to communications from dealer workshops to ensure the safe operation of their vehicles moving forward.
It is to be noted that the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara is one of the popular hybrid SUVs in the Indian market. It is currently sold at a starting price of Rs 10.77 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs 19.72 lakh (ex-showroom) for the most expensive variant. The consumers have the option of a petrol-powered, CNG-powered, and a PHEV variant of the SUV. Furthermore, it offers the option of an all-wheel drive, making it a popular choice among consumers.
