Maruti Suzuki Dominates Sales, Overtakes Mahindra & Tata

The Indian auto industry maintained its strong momentum in November 2025. Even though the festive season excitement has slowed down a bit, the market remains active. The passenger vehicle segment recorded a 21% year-on-year growth in total sales, reflecting the strength of the market and rising consumer demand. This month, Maruti Suzuki once again proved its dominance, while Mahindra overtook Tata Motors to secure the second position. According to VAHAN data, Maruti topped the sales chart with 1,55,317 units, which is 19% higher than last year. Let’s take a look at the top 10 companies.

Maruti Suzuki

As mentioned, Maruti Suzuki holds the first spot. Last month, the company sold a total of 1,55,317 units. Although this is a 35% decline compared to the record 2.39 lakh units sold in October, the year-on-year performance remains strong. The GST rate cut and new product launches helped attract customers.

Mahindra

In second place is Mahindra & Mahindra, which sold 54,005 units, showing a 20% year-on-year growth. The Scorpio, Thar Roxx, and Thar 3-door models played a key role in this success. After lagging behind Tata in October and facing a 24% month-on-month drop, Mahindra still managed to overtake Tata by a margin of more than 2,000 units.

Tata Motors

Tata Motors stood at the third position, selling 51,672 units and achieving a 22% year-on-year growth. However, the company slipped from second to third place. Tata aims to increase its SUV market share from 16% to 25%.

Hyundai

In fourth place, Hyundai Motor India sold 49,295 units, showing a modest 9% growth. Domestic sales stood at 50,340 units, while exports saw a strong rise with 16,500 units. The launch of the new Venue helped boost sales.

Toyota

At the fifth position is Toyota Kirloskar Motor, which sold 33,752 units, reflecting a significant 28% increase. Models like the Innova Crysta and Fortuner provided stability to the company’s performance.
Apart from the top five car companies mentioned above, last month:
  • Kia sold 23,624 units
  • Honda sold 5,204 units
  • Renault India sold 3,662 units
  • Skoda Auto India sold 5,941 units
  • JSW MG Motor sold 5,754 units
Overall, the passenger vehicle market in November 2025 reached an estimated figure of 4,25,000 units.
