Tata Nexon vs Maruti Brezza After GST Cut: Which SUV is the Better Buy?
By CarVaidyaTata Nexon vs Maruti Brezza: After GST 2.0, Compact SUV Prices Will Drop from September 22. With the GST cut, customers are now more confused between two of the most popular compact SUVs—Maruti Brezza and Tata Nexon. If you are also planning to buy an SUV this festive season, let’s see which one turns out to be the better deal after GST Cut 2025.
Under GST 2.0, the tax on sub-4 meter SUVs has been reduced
from 28% to 18%. According to Tata Motors, buyers can save up to ₹1.55 lakh on
the purchase of a Nexon. The Tata Nexon, which earlier had a starting price of
₹8 lakh, can now be bought at just ₹7.32 lakh (ex-showroom).
Talking about the Maruti Brezza, its current starting price
is ₹8.69 lakh. After GST Cut 2025, its base variant is expected to cost around
₹8.30 lakh. However, Maruti has not yet revealed the exact revised prices after
the tax reduction.
Both SUVs come with modern features, but the Nexon is more
feature-rich. It offers a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10-inch
digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats,
wireless charging, and a 360-degree camera.
In the Brezza, you get features like an electric sunroof,
heads-up display, 360-degree camera, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, and
rear AC vents. The Nexon’s interior feels more premium, while the Brezza is
better in terms of space and comfort.
When it comes to safety, the Nexon takes the lead. It has
received a 5-star rating from Bharat NCAP. The Nexon comes equipped with 6
airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Hill Hold Control, ISOFIX child
seat anchors, and a 360-degree camera. The Brezza also offers 6 airbags, ESP,
and Hill Hold as standard, but it hasn’t been tested by NCAP yet. So, if safety
is your top priority, the Nexon is the better option.
The Nexon is available with petrol, diesel, and CNG options,
whereas the Brezza comes only with petrol and CNG options. You can check the
detailed engine and mileage comparison of both SUVs below.
Looking at the overall package, the Nexon comes across as
more powerful with multiple engine options and better highway performance. On
the other hand, the Brezza’s engine is refined, efficient, and better suited
for city driving.
After the GST cut, the Nexon seems to offer better value for
money with its lower starting price, stronger safety rating, and more premium
features. However, if your focus is on mileage, Maruti’s wider service network,
and CNG efficiency, then the Brezza also makes for a solid deal.
