Tata Punch EV Review: Is It the Perfect Electric SUV for City Driving?

The company has recently introduced the Punch EV in a new avatar, featuring an updated design and a larger battery pack. Tata claims that its extended driving range and fast-charging capability make it more convenient and economical for daily use. We recently drove the new 2026 Tata Punch EV and bring you a detailed review.
The new Tata Punch EV retains a bold and SUV-inspired design similar to its petrol counterpart. At the front, it gets a redesigned bumper and a fully closed grille, giving it a clean electric SUV appearance. Grey body cladding all around and dual-tone color options enhance its “spo-SUV” styling. The large Tata logo at the front conceals the charging port, which now features a bigger push-open flap, making it easier to plug in the charger. The car comes with LED DRLs integrated with turn indicators. A front camera is provided for the 360-degree camera setup. Lower down, it gets LED projector headlamps and ice-cube-style fog lamps. From the side, the Punch EV features 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels with tubeless tyres, adding to its strong road presence.

With the rear seats up, it offers 366 litres of boot space. The rear seats can be folded completely, though they do not support a 60:40 split configuration.
While driving, the Punch EV feels smooth and stable. It offers three levels of regenerative braking, which drivers can adjust based on their preference. The suspension is comfortable and absorbs bumps well, even on rough roads. On highways, the car remains stable and confident.

For safety, the Punch EV comes with six airbags as standard, ABS with EBD, hill assist, emergency braking support, a 360-degree camera, and high-beam alert. It is expected to receive a 5-star safety rating in the Bharat NCAP crash test.
