Tata Punch Facelift vs Nissan Magnite: Which SUV Gives Better Value for Money?
By CarVaidyaIn the sub-4-meter compact SUV segment, the Tata Punch Facelift and the Nissan Magnite are both very popular options. Tata has recently launched the 2026 Punch Facelift, which features a new turbo engine, an updated design, and additional features. On the other hand, the Nissan Magnite facelift also looks stylish and is packed with modern features.
So the big question is — which SUV offers better value for money? Let’s understand this by comparing their price, engine, and mileage.
The Tata Punch Facelift is priced from ₹5.59 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to around ₹10.54 lakh for the top variant. Meanwhile, the Nissan Magnite starts at ₹5.62 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to ₹10.75 lakh for the top turbo variant . Compared to the Magnite, the Punch is slightly more affordable.
The Nissan Magnite is longer and wider, with a length of 3994 mm and a wheelbase of 2500 mm, which provides more cabin space. It also offers better ground clearance of 205 mm. The Tata Punch, on the other hand, is slightly shorter at 3876 mm but taller in height. It also offers a larger boot space than the Magnite (366 litres vs 336 litres).
The Tata Punch Facelift is equipped with a new 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, producing 118 bhp and 170 Nm, which makes it more powerful and smoother to drive. The Nissan Magnite is powered by a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that delivers 99 bhp and 152 Nm, and it also offers a CVT automatic transmission, which is ideal for smooth city driving. While the Punch Turbo offers better power, the Magnite’s CVT is a better option for those who prefer relaxed and smooth driving. It is important to note that the Punch Turbo model is available only with a 6-speed manual transmission. The Tata Punch Facelift offers a mileage of around 18–20 kmpl, while the Nissan Magnite delivers approximately 17.9–19.4 kmpl. On paper, both SUVs are almost similar, but in real-world driving conditions, the Punch may offer slightly better fuel efficiency. However, for exact real-world figures, we will need to wait a bit longer.
Both the Tata Punch Facelift and Nissan Magnite come loaded with features. These include a touchscreen infotainment system (10.25-inch in Punch, 8-inch in Magnite), wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and automatic climate control.
The Punch also offers premium features like a voice-assisted sunroof and rain-sensing wipers. Overall, the Punch provides a more premium interior experience, while the Magnite offers more cabin space.
Both SUVs come with 6 airbags as standard, along with safety features like ABS, EBD, ESC, and a 360-degree camera. The Tata Punch has received a 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating, while the Nissan Magnite has also earned a 5-star Global NCAP rating. Overall, the Punch’s stronger build quality and safety package give it a slight edge over the Magnite.
If you are looking for an SUV with more power, better safety, a larger boot space, and a lower starting price, the new Tata Punch Facelift is a better choice. It offers a well-balanced performance for both city and highway driving.
On the other hand, the Nissan Magnite is ideal for buyers who prefer more cabin space, higher ground clearance, and a smooth CVT automatic transmission.
Overall, both SUVs offer excellent value for money, but the latest updates on the Punch Facelift give it a slight advantage for now.
