What Makes The Tesla
Model Y L Different?
The biggest draw of the Tesla Model Y L is its three-row,
six-seat layout. It uses a 2+2+2 configuration, with captain seats in the
middle row that come with heating, power two-way folding, and retractable inner
armrests. The third row gets dedicated AC vents on the C-pillar, USB Type-C
ports, cupholders, and a 50:50 split-fold function.
This is also the first Model Y variant in India to
feature a dual-motor, all-wheel drive setup. Tesla claims a WLTP range of 681km
on a single charge. The Model Y L accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5 seconds and tops out
at 201 km/h. The Model Y L also supports V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) bi-directional
charging.
Dimensionally, the Model Y L measures 4,976mm in
length, 1,920mm in width, and 1,668mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,040mm.
That makes it 186mm longer and 44mm taller than the standard Model Y, with a
wheelbase that is 150mm longer. Ground clearance, however, is reduced to 122mm.
On the storage front, total boot space stands at 2,539 litres, while the frunk
offers 116 litres.
It is worth noting that Tesla entered India in
July 2025 with the Model Y as a fully imported vehicle, which attracts a 70% import duty and, along with GST, makes it significantly costlier here than in other global markets. In the Indian EV market, the Tesla Model Y L
competes with the likes of the Mercedes-Benz CLA, BYD Sealion 7, Hyundai Ioniq
5, and the Kia EV9 in the premium electric SUV space.
