Toyota is
well-known in the Indian market for its hybrid cars, and it's expected that the
company will soon expand its lineup with a new model. Recently, the Toyota AquaHybrid was spotted during testing, hinting at its potential launch.
This popular
compact hybrid hatchback was originally launched in Japan in 2021 and is
recognized for its excellent fuel efficiency and advanced technology. Let’s
take a look at its expected design, interior, engine, and mileage details.

Expected
Design
The Toyota Aqua Hybrid is based on the TNGA-B platform, which is also used in
models like the Yaris and Sienta. The design is modern and attractive,
featuring LED headlights, LED DRLs, and LED rear combination lights. Its compact
size makes it perfect for urban driving, offering easy parking and great maneuver
rability. Recent spy shots show the car without any camouflage, highlighting
its premium appearance. It also boasts a drag coefficient of 0.28, contributing
to its aerodynamic efficiency.
Interior and
Features
The interior of the
Toyota Aqua Hybrid is both functional and modern. It
features a 10.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple
CarPlay and Android Auto, a 360-degree parking camera, and automatic climate
control. The cabin offers soft synthetic leather seats, ample legroom and
headroom, and smart storage solutions.
It comfortably
accommodates five passengers, and the rear seats can be folded down to create
extra luggage space. Safety features include 10 airbags, lane departure
warning, automatic emergency braking, and vehicle stability control.
Engine and
Performance
The
Toyota Aqua Hybrid is powered by a 1.5-liter, 3-cylinder petrol engine that
produces 91 PS of power and 120 Nm of torque. It is paired with an electric
motor generating 80 PS and 141 Nm of torque. Together, the hybrid system
delivers a combined output of 116 PS. The car comes with an e-CVT transmission
and is available in both FWD and E-Four AWD variants. It also features the
world’s first bipolar nickel-hydrogen battery pack, which offers high output in
a compact size.
Mileage
The claimed mileage of the Toyota Aqua Hybrid is 35.8 km/l, making it one of
the most fuel-efficient cars in India. Its hybrid system allows the car to run
in electric mode at low speeds in the city, reducing fuel consumption and
emissions. It is expected to deliver better mileage than current models like
the Hyryder and Grand Vitara.
