Amid rising
petrol and diesel prices, CNG-powered cars are being seen as a better
alternative. In this segment, two new models are set to make their entry soon.
Skoda is preparing to launch its Kylaq CNG, while Tata Motors is working on
introducing the Curvv CNG. Both these cars are expected to offer excellent fuel
efficiency along with strong safety features. Let’s take a look at their
possible details.
Skoda Kylaq
CNG
Skoda is planning to bring its most affordable Kylaq SUV in a CNG avatar.
However, this is currently in the concept stage and may take some time to reach
the market. If launched with a CNG option, its price is expected to range
between ₹8 lakh to ₹12 lakh (ex-showroom), which will be slightly higher than
its petrol variant.
Talking about
the interior of the Skoda Kylaq CNG, it may feature a modern dashboard, a touchscreen
infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a digital
instrument cluster, sunroof, automatic climate control, and comfortable seats.
Additionally, it is likely to use dual-cylinder CNG technology so that the boot
space is not compromised.
For safety, the
car could be equipped with features such as 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, Electronic
Stability Control (ESC), rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera, and ISOFIX
child seat mounts.

The Skoda Kylaq CNG is likely to be powered by a 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine adapted for CNG.
This engine is expected to deliver better torque and performance, along with
impressive mileage. According to reports, the Kylaq CNG could offer a mileage
of around 25-30 km/kg.
Tata Curvv CNG
Tata Motors' popular coupe-style Curvv SUV is already making waves in its
diesel, petrol, and electric versions. Now, to boost sales further, the company
is preparing to introduce its CNG variant as well. Reports suggest that the
starting price of the Curvv CNG could be around ₹11 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Tata Curvv
is known for its advanced features and large touchscreen infotainment system.
Its CNG version is also expected to feature an attractive cabin along with
ventilated seats, a multi-functional steering wheel, ambient lighting, and
connected car technology.
For safety, it
is likely to come equipped with 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability
Control (ESC), hill hold control, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), a
360-degree camera, and some features of ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance
System). Notably, the Tata Curvv has received a 5-star safety rating in the
Bharat NCAP crash test.
The Tata Curvv CNG may feature a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine adapted for CNG. This engine is
expected to offer a good balance of power and fuel efficiency. The mileage of
the Curvv CNG is estimated to be around 20-25 km/kg.
