VinFast VF MPV 7 vs Kia Carens Clavis EV: Which 7-Seater EV Wins?
By CarVaidya- 18 Apr 2026
The electric MPV segment in India may be small,
with fewer than three models priced under Rs 30 lakh, but it's growing. Two of
its most interesting entries right now are the newly launched VinFast VF MPV 7
and the Kia Carens Clavis EV.
The VF MPV 7 made its debut earlier this week as
VinFast's third product in India. The Kia Carens Clavis EV was launched nearly
a year ago in July 2025 as the brand's first electric MPV.
Since VinFast is currently selling only one
variant of the VF MPV 7, we've pitted it against the similarly priced Carens
Clavis EV GTX+ ER - the top-spec variant of the Kia, which costs just Rs 50,000
more. So, which one should you pick if your budget is around Rs 25 lakh?
VinFast VF MPV 7 vs Kia Carens Clavis EV: Dimensions
On paper, the VF MPV 7 is the larger car in
every dimension. It is 190mm longer, 72mm wider, and offers 60mm more wheelbase
than the Carens Clavis EV. Height is virtually identical between the two, with
the VinFast edging ahead by just a whisker. If outright size is your priority,
the VF MPV 7 clearly wins this round.

VinFast VF MPV 7 vs Kia Carens Clavis EV: Powertrain
The VF MPV 7's numerical advantage carries over
under the skin as well. Its 60.13kWh battery pack is 8.73kWh larger than the
Clavis EV's 51.4kWh unit, translating to a claimed range of 517km versus 490km
for the Kia.
The VinFast's
front-mounted motor also produces 204hp and 280 N · m - 33hp and 25 N · m more than the
Kia's setup. DC fast charging is quicker on the VF MPV 7 too, with a 10-70 per
cent charge taking just 30 minutes compared to 39 minutes (10-80 per cent) for
the Carens Clavis EV.

VinFast VF MPV 7 vs Kia Carens Clavis EV: Exterior Design
Both MPVs get
connected LED tail-lamps, automatic LED headlamps with DRLs, powered and
auto-folding ORVMs, a rear spoiler, and plastic body cladding. However, the VF
MPV 7 does stand out with its larger 19-inch black alloy wheels and
chunkier-looking rear bumper. The top-spec Carens Clavis EV GTX+ ER counters
with front fog lamps, faux skid plates, roof rails, and lime green brake
callipers - touches that give it a more rounded, premium appearance on the
outside.
VinFast VF MPV 7 vs Kia Carens Clavis EV: Interior and Features
This is where the gap between the two widens considerably, and in Kia's favour. The Carens Clavis EV GTX+ ER packs dual 12.25-inch digital displays - one for the driver and one for infotainment - along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The VF MPV 7, in contrast, gets a smaller 10.1-inch touchscreen with only wired smartphone connectivity and no digital instrument cluster. The Kia also gets a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats with powered adjustment for the driver, a premium 8-speaker Bose audio system, 64-colour ambient lighting, rear sunshades, an in-built air purifier with AQI display, and a retractable rear-seat table with an integrated cupholder. The VF MPV 7 misses out on all of these. It does, however, offer a 'Camp' mode that keeps the infotainment, HVAC, and cabin lights operational - a handy feature for those planning to use it for leisure. Both cars feature wireless charging, leatherette upholstery, reclining rear seats, split-folding second- and third-row seats, single-zone automatic climate control, and an electronic parking brake with auto-hold. The Kia also offers five USB Type-C ports compared to the VinFast's two, and a Digital Key feature that lets you control the windows and door locks via a smartphone app.
VinFast VF MPV 7 vs Kia Carens Clavis EV: Safety
The Carens Clavis EV has a clear safety advantage. Its top-spec GTX+ ER
trim comes with Level 2 ADAS - covering front-collision warning and avoidance,
lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, blind-spot warning with
collision-avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and a blind-spot monitor
in the instrument cluster. The VF MPV 7 has no ADAS at all. The Kia also offers
six airbags against four in the VinFast, along with 360-degree cameras, front
and rear parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, and tyre pressure monitoring -
all of which are absent on the VF MPV 7.

VinFast VF MPV 7 vs
Kia Carens Clavis EV: Verdict
The VinFast VF MPV 7 is the bigger car with
more battery capacity, more power, and a slightly higher claimed range - and
that counts for something. But for just Rs 50,000 more, the Kia Carens Clavis
EV GTX+ ER delivers a significantly more feature-packed and premium experience.
From Level 2 ADAS and a panoramic sunroof to a Bose audio system, ventilated
seats, and wireless connectivity, the Kia covers far more ground. Unless
outright size and range are your only priorities, the Carens Clavis EV is the
more well-rounded buy at this price point.
