BYD is set to hike the
prices of its India lineup by up to 3% starting May 2026, making its EVs
significantly more expensive for buyers. The move comes amid rising input costs
and ongoing global supply chain disruptions.
BYD to Hike Prices From May 2026
Chinese EV manufacturer BYD has decided to increase prices across its India portfolio.
Currently, the brand offers models like the BYD Atto 3, BYD eMax 7, BYD Seal,
and BYD Sealion. The revision follows global supply constraints, including
semiconductor shortages and limited availability of critical components.
This has forced the company to raise prices across
its entire lineup. The expected hike ranges between ₹50,000 and ₹1 lakh, while
top-end variants could see an increase of up to ₹1.7 lakh. EV batteries account
for nearly 30% to 40% of total manufacturing costs, making them a key factor
behind rising vehicle prices. Recent escalations in the Middle East and
disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz have further strained supply chains,
affecting the availability of essential materials and components.
Not just critical components, but parts and
vehicle imports have also been impacted. Positioned as a premium EV brand, BYD
is facing mounting cost pressures, leading to its second price revision in
2026.
BYD Lineup Prices

Earlier this year, the brand had already revised prices
across its models. Currently, the Atto 3 is priced between ₹24.99 lakh and
₹33.99 lakh, while the BYD eMax 7 ranges from ₹26.90 lakh to ₹29.90 lakh.
The BYD Seal, as per the April price report, is
priced between ₹41 lakh and ₹53.51 lakh (all prices ex-showroom). BYD has not
yet announced the exact revised prices, but an official update is expected
soon. Meanwhile, other manufacturers like Hyundai Motor Company have also
announced price hikes of up to 1% across their lineup, as automakers look to
protect margins amid rising costs and supply challenges.
