Skoda Auto India has
officially launched the all-new Skoda Kodiaq RS in India at Rs 66.89 lakh
(ex-showroom). Positioned as the brand's flagship performance SUV, the Kodiaq
RS has been introduced in limited numbers and has already sold out.
Skoda Kodiaq RS Launched in India
The Czech carmaker
allocated just 50 units for India, and the entire batch was booked out in just
six minutes, highlighting the strong demand for performance-oriented premium
SUVs. The Kodiaq RS commands a premium of nearly Rs 20 lakh over the standard
Skoda Kodiaq. This is largely because the RS model is brought to India as a CBU
unit, while the regular Kodiaq is locally assembled as a CKD model.
More Power, More Performance

Powering the Kodiaq RS is a 2.0-litre TSI
turbo-petrol engine producing 261bhp and 400Nm of torque. This is significantly
more than the standard Kodiaq's 201bhp and 320Nm output. The engine is paired
with a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox and an all-wheel-drive system. Skoda
claims the Kodiaq RS can sprint from 0-100km/h in just 6.3 seconds and hit a
top speed of 231km/h, making it the most powerful SUV currently sold by the
brand in India. It is based on the MQB Evo platform, which it shares with the Volkswagen Tayron R-Line. The performance SUV also gets progressive steering
and Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) with adaptive dampers for sharper handling
and improved ride quality.
Sportier Design And Premium Cabin

Visually, the Kodiaq RS gets blacked-out alloys,
grille, bumpers, roof rails, ORVMs, and a roof spoiler for a sportier
appearance. It is offered in Moon White, Magic Black, Velvet Red, and Steel
Grey. Inside, it features an all-black seven-seat cabin with a 12.9-inch
touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and powered and ventilated front seats with massage, memory, and thigh extension
functions. The steering wheel and seats get RS badging, along with aluminium
pedals. For entertainment, the SUV gets a 13-speaker Canton sound system with a
subwoofer. Safety features include nine airbags, a 360-degree camera, and ADAS.
