Skoda Superb Diesel Revealed In India Ahead Of 2027 Launch
By CarVaidyaSkoda has revealed the
Skoda Superb diesel in India ahead of the fourth-generation sedan's expected
launch in the first half of 2027. The Czech carmaker will bring the
range-topping Laurin & Klement (L&K) trim of the Skoda Superb to India
as a completely built unit (CBU) import.
Customers can now register their interest in the
Skoda Superb at the firm's dealerships, with deliveries slated to begin in the
second quarter of 2027. The Superb was previously sold in India as a CBU import
in 2024, but this marks the first time the fourth-generation model has been
officially offered to Indian buyers.
Skoda Superb: Diesel Powertrain
The India-spec Skoda Superb is powered by a
2.0-litre diesel engine that makes 150hp and 360Nm. It is paired with a 7-speed
dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT) that drives the front wheels. Skoda
claims a 0-100km/h time of 9.2 seconds and an electronically limited top speed
of 225km/h.
A more powerful 193hp version of this engine,
matched with an all-wheel-drive system, was showcased at the 2025 Auto Expo but
has since been ruled out for the India-spec car. The Skoda Superb gets
Progressive Dynamic Steering and Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC), which adjusts
the handling balance based on speed, road conditions and the selected driving
mode.
The Skoda Superb's arrival also marks the return
of a diesel engine to the wider Volkswagen Group lineup in India, six years
after the group last offered one in 2020, ahead of the switch to BS6 emission
norms.

Inside, the Superb gets a dual-tone black-and-Cognac cabin with a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10-inch digital driver's display and a 3-spoke steering wheel with a 'Skoda' wordmark. As on the Kodiaq SUV, rotary dials with digital screens on the centre console handle the climate and audio controls, while the seats get leatherette upholstery matching the cabin's colour scheme.
Other features include a 14-speaker Canton sound system, 3-zone climate control, a 25-watt wireless phone charger, rear sunblinds and a powered tailgate with gesture support. The front seats are powered and offer memory, heating, ventilation and massage functions. A 'Sleep Package' comes as standard, adding adjustable headrests for the rear outboard seats and two blankets. Safety equipment includes 10 airbags, a 360-degree camera, Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems, an electronic parking brake, a tyre-pressure monitoring system and automatic parking assistance.
Skoda Superb: Expected Price & Rivals
As a CBU import, the Superb is expected to carry a premium positioning, with pricing likely in the Rs 55-60 lakh range. The India-EU Free Trade Agreement, due to come into force in 2027, could lower import duties and bring the price down further. Should Skoda price the Superb competitively, it could serve as an alternative to the Toyota Camry, currently the only other sedan in this premium segment.
