In the global NCAP crash test, KIA's Carens car has shown excellent performance in terms of safety. This car has obtained a five-star rating in child safety and a three-star rating in adult safety.
The Kia Carens is quite popular in the Indian market. Recently, it underwent crash testing in the global NCAP, where it received a 3-star rating in the adult safety category and a 5-star rating in the child safety category.
In terms of adult safety, the Kia Carens scored 22.07 out of 34. Both driver and passenger head protection were rated as adequate. However, there were some weaknesses observed in driver neck protection. Sufficient chest protection was provided for both the driver and the passenger.
In terms of side impact safety, the Kia Carens provided good protection for the head, chest, and abdomen. However, the car was not subjected to a side pole impact. The car provides a standard 3-point seatbelt for all seating positions across all variants.
Kia has provided a seat belt reminder (SBR) system for the first and second rows in the Carens. According to these standards, the Kia Carens has been given a 3-star rating for adult passenger safety.
Child Safety Ratings: In terms of children's safety, it can be said that the Kia Carens has performed exceptionally well. In the child safety category, it scored 41.11 out of 49. As a result, it achieved a 5-star safety rating.
For front impact, rear-facing i-Size anchorages and support legs provide full protection for children aged 3 years and 18 months. In the Kia Carens, both child restraint systems provide better safety for side impact.
The Kia Carens now provides a standard 3-point seat belt feature in all variants. The tested Kia Carens car was equipped with frontal airbags, belt pre-tensioners, belt load limiters, side head curtain airbags, and ISOFIX child seat mounts.
