Upcoming Car Launches & Unveils (April 2026)
April 2026 is set to
be an active month for the Indian automotive industry, with multiple carmakers
lining up new launches and unveilings across segments. April's launches and
reveals include a few all-new models, a much-awaited facelift, and additions to
both the mass-market and premium segments of the Indian car market. Three of the five cars and SUVs (Toyota Ebella, MG
Majestor, and Mercedes-Benz CLA), set to launch next month, have already been
revealed to the public, and April will see their manufacturers finally release prices for the trio. The other two SUVs set to arrive in April 2026
include an all-new Nissan SUV (more on that later) and a mid-life facelift
for the Volkswagen Taigun compact SUV. So let's take a look at the new cars and
SUVs set to be launched or revealed next month...
Volkswagen Taigun Facelift
Volkswagen will launch
the facelifted Taigun SUV on April 9. This will be the first major update for
the compact SUV since its launch in India.in 2021. The Volkswagen Taigun facelift is expected to see changes similar to what its VW Group sibling, the
Skoda Kushaq, recently got with its own mid-life facelift. The Volkswagen Taigun facelift is expected to
bring slight revisions to the exterior design and an updated feature list,
which could include massaging rear seats. While the Taigun facelift will
continue with the existing 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine options,
the former is expected to be offered with the new 8-speed torque converter
automatic gearbox that debuted on the Kushaq facelift.
Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella
Japanese carmaker Toyota will announce prices
for the Urban Cruiser Ebella during the month of April. The Toyota Ebella was revealed
to the public a few weeks back, and we've already had the chance to get behind
its wheel and take it for a first drive. This Urban Cruiser Ebella will mark
Toyota's entry into the mass-market electric SUV space in India. The Ebella is,
in essence, a badge-swapped version of the Maruti Suzuki eVitara and shares
most of its design, along with its feature list and electric powertrain
options. The Ebella offers a range of 543km on a single charge from its larger
61kWh battery pack (a smaller 49kWh unit is also offered). Like the eVitara,
Toyota is expected to offer the Ebella with Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) along
with the "regular" full ownership model. Expect prices for the Ebella
to be at a slight premium to the eVitara from Maruti Suzuki.
MG Majestor
JSW MG Motor India is
expected to finally reveal the prices of the Majestor SUV in April 2026, ahead
of the start of deliveries in May. The new MG Majestor is positioned as the
firm's flagship D-Segment SUV (not including the MG Select offerings) and will
sit above the Gloster in its Indian lineup. Pre-bookings for the massive MG
Gloster, which we had a chance to take a proper first look at recently, are
already underway. The MG Majestor is powered by a twin-turbocharged 2.0-litre
diesel engine that pushes out 213bhp and 478Nm of peak torque. The Majestor is
offered in both 2WD and 4WD options, with the latter offering multiple terrain
modes and triple locking differentials.
Mercedes-Benz CLA
German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz will
launch the new-generation CLA in India during the month of April 2026. The new
CLA has ditched its ICE roots for an all-electric powertrain with a claimed
WLTP range of 792km on a single charge for the top-spec CLA 250+Long Range
variant. The Mercedes-Benz CLA electric sedan is also offered with a smaller
battery pack in the CLA 200 variant, with both versions boasting an 800V EV
architecture. This allows for charging speeds of up to 240kW when connected to
a compatible DC fast charger, which Mercedes claims allows the CLA to reclaim
400km of range with just a 20-minute stint at the charger. Prices for the
Mercedes-Benz CLA are expected to range between ₹55 lakh and ₹59 lakh
(ex-showroom).
Nissan Tekton
Nissan is expected to unveil its brand new
C-SUV, the Tekton, for the Indian market next month. The upcoming Nissan Tekton
will be based on the new-generation Renault Duster and will share its platform
and powertrain options with the recently launched French SUV. While it will
share its platform and mechanicals with the Duster, the Nissan Tekton is
expected to differentiate itself from its French sibling with a rather distinct
design and a more premium interior. Prices for the Nissan Tekton are expected
to be revealed in the second half of 2026.
