Amid the growing demand for electric vehicles in the Indian market, Tata Motors is set to launch the first facelift of its entry-level electric SUV, the Tata Punch EV, on 20 February 2026. The Punch EV is already a feature-loaded model, but the company is now preparing to introduce several new updates and premium features. The new model is expected to share some technology and design elements with the facelifted ICE version. Let’s take a look at the five major changes expected in the 2026 Tata Punch EV Facelift.
1. New and Fresh Look
According to the images released by Tata Motors, the front design of the new Punch EV will remain similar to the previous model, but some visible changes have been made. The black strip connecting the headlights on the front bumper has been removed. The closed grille and split LED headlamp setup will continue. The minimalist design language with slim DRLs will also remain.
A new scuff plate will be added below the front bumper for a cleaner look. The side profile will remain mostly unchanged, though the 16-inch alloy wheels may get a slight design update. At the rear, connected LED tail lamps similar to the facelifted ICE Punch are expected. Additionally, a new bright yellow color option may be introduced to attract younger buyers.
2. More Premium Interior Feel
The cabin of the new Tata Punch EV may receive minor upgrades. These include slight changes to the dashboard layout, a new upholstery theme, and extended thigh support for all seats.
Key interior features may include:
10.25-inch digital instrument cluster
Two-spoke illuminated steering wheel
Rotary dial gear selector
Voice-enabled electric sunroof
These updates will make the cabin feel more premium and comfortable.
3. Major Safety Upgrade
The introduction of ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) could be one of the biggest highlights of the facelifted Punch EV. Expected ADAS features include:
Blind Spot Monitoring
Adaptive Cruise Control
Lane Keep Assist
Automatic Emergency Braking
Front Collision Warning
Rear Cross Traffic Alert
If these features are included, the Punch EV will become one of the strongest competitors in its segment in terms of technology and safety.
4. Improved Driving Range
The facelifted model is expected to retain the same battery pack options, but Tata Motors may improve range through better testing and optimization. Currently, the Punch EV is available with two battery packs: 25 kWh and 35 kWh.
With improved efficiency, the driving range may increase slightly in the new model.
5. Enhanced Comfort Features
So far, the Punch EV has lacked a powered driver seat. This feature may be introduced in the facelifted version. Along with this, ventilated front seats may continue to be offered.
These upgrades will improve cabin comfort and make the driving experience more premium.
Expected Price, Launch Timeline, and Competition
Currently, the Tata Punch EV is priced between ₹9.99 lakh and ₹14.44 lakh (ex-showroom). The facelifted version is expected to be priced between ₹10 lakh and ₹15 lakh.
The Punch EV directly competes with the Citroen eC3. It will also face competition from the MG Windsor EV, Mahindra XUV 3XO EV, and Tata’s own Nexon EV.
Should You Buy Now or Wait for the Facelift?
If you are looking for a budget-friendly electric micro-SUV, the current Punch EV is still a strong option in terms of features, safety, and efficiency. Ongoing stock clearance offers may make it even more attractive.
However, if you want the latest design, possible ADAS features, and new upgrades, waiting until 20 February 2026 could be a smarter choice.
