The Indian car market is thriving, with new cars being launched from time to time. If you plan to buy a family car in the coming days, this article will be useful. We have brought you a list of upcoming 7-seater cars, including the Maruti Grand Vitara 7-Seater and the Toyota Fortuner Hybrid.
Maruti Grand Vitara 7-Seater: A Game Changer for Maruti

The hybrid SUV Grand Vitara, which has proven to be a game changer for Maruti, will soon be introduced with an extended wheelbase and a third row. It has been spotted multiple times during testing on Indian roads. It is expected that the company will manufacture it at the Kharkhoda factory in Haryana, with plans to sell it both in the domestic and international markets.
The Grand Vitara 7-seater is likely to come with some upgrades while retaining the same interior, features, and design as the existing model. However, mechanically, it is expected to remain the same. It will feature a 1.5-liter petrol engine with strong and mild hybrid technology. Customers will also have the option to choose the Grand Vitara in a CNG variant.
In terms of mileage, the current 5-seater version can achieve up to 27.97 km per liter of petrol, thanks to its Strong Hybrid technology. This SUV is equipped with six airbags, a 360-degree camera, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 7-inch digital driver display, a wireless phone charger, ventilated front seats, and a panoramic sunroof, among many other features.
Skoda Kodiaq
The second car on the list is the upcoming Skoda Kodiaq, which will be sold in the Indian market as a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) unit. The second-generation Kodiaq was recently showcased at Auto Expo 2025. Skoda Auto India's brand director, Petr Janeba, has officially stated that the company will announce its prices in April.
The 7-seater SUV will be available in two trims—Sportline and Laurin & Klement. It will be powered by a 2.0L, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, producing 187 BHP and 320 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox. It will be interesting to see how the Indian market responds to the new Skoda Kodiaq.
Toyota Fortuner Hybrid
The Toyota Fortuner Hybrid, already available in global markets, is now set to enter the Indian market. The Toyota Fortuner MHEV (Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle) will feature a 2.8L diesel engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system, which provides an additional 16 BHP and 42 Nm of torque, bringing the total output to 198 BHP and 500 Nm.
