Upcoming Hybrid Cars in India
Due to stricter emission norms and soaring petrol-diesel prices, people are
increasingly turning towards hybrid cars. Keeping this in mind, several
companies are preparing to launch new products. These include the Seltos
Hybrid, Elevate Hybrid, and Creta Hybrid. Let’s learn more about them.
Kia Seltos
Hybrid
The second-generation Kia Seltos is expected to launch in India in early 2026.
This SUV will come with hybrid technology, featuring a 1.5-liter naturally
aspirated petrol engine paired with an electric motor. This combination is
expected to deliver a mileage of around 30 kmpl, primarily available in the
top-end trims.
It is anticipated that the current 1.5-liter
petrol and diesel engines will continue to be offered as well. The new Seltos
will feature major design changes such as a new front grille, LED headlamps,
and bumpers inspired by electric vehicles. Inside, it will have a digital
instrument cluster, a larger touchscreen infotainment system, and advanced
driver assistance systems (ADAS).
Honda
Elevate Hybrid
The
Honda Elevate was launched for the first time in September 2023. It is
expected to be introduced in a hybrid version in the second half of 2026. This
model is likely to feature the 1.5-liter petrol engine from the Honda City e: HEV, equipped with Atkinson cycle hybrid technology, which is expected to offer a mileage of over 26 kmpl.
Currently, the Honda Elevate comes with a 1.5-liter petrol
engine, but it doesn’t offer a diesel option. The upcoming hybrid variant may
feature a CVT and e-drive transmission. The design is expected to receive minor
updates, while the interior is likely to offer features such as a sunroof,
digital display, and premium upholstery.
Hyundai
Creta Hybrid
The third-generation
Hyundai Creta is expected to be launched in 2027. It will
come with a hybrid system paired with a 1.5-liter petrol engine. The SUV will
also continue to offer the existing 1.5-liter petrol, turbo-petrol, and diesel
engines. However, due to the upcoming BS7 emission standards, the diesel engine
may be replaced by the hybrid powertrain.
The new Creta will feature a fresh design, a
more premium interior, and advanced technologies such as a 360-degree camera
and ADAS features.
The interior
of the Creta Hybrid will undergo significant upgrades. Currently, the
SUV comes equipped with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, digital
driver display, panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charger, climate control
panel, and dual-zone AC — features that are expected to be retained in the new
model as well.
